Honda has delivered on their promise for a more performance-based Honda Civic, bringing us two new engine options for the Honda Civic and. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four cylinder that produces 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque and is standard on the first two trims. This first engine comes with the choice of being paired with a six-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. The second engine option, a 1.5-liter turbocharged four cylinder, produces 174 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, an impressive new high for the compact sedan. It is standard on the top three trims and is paired with a CVT. Both options offer an increased level of efficiency for the Civic.
One of the most important changes, if you value safety over all other aspects of driving, is the newly available Honda Sensing suite. This collection of safety features from Honda, designed to help avoid accidents, has already been made available to other Honda vehicles with a high level of success that has helped other vehicles earn high safety ratings.
